Worlds Within a World
This is the “World Within a World” monument: a tribute to EVE Online.
EVE Online is a space-based massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) game.
Around the base of the monument are the names of Eve Online players, laser engraved in aluminium. The names were taken from all active accounts on 1 March 2014 and 31 March 2014.

A time capsule is burried with the monument. It contains solid state storage containing messages from the EVE Online community. It will be opened on 6 May 2039—25 years after it was sealed. But with the quick pace of technology, will there be any working devices capable of reading it?
The monument is located in Reykjavík, Iceland, because the company which makes EVE Online was founded in Reykjavík.
EVE Fanfest is an annual in-person conference held in Reykjavík for the game’s community. Thousands of players from around the world attend the conference. The monument was unveiled on 30 April 2014, in conjunction with EVE Fanfest 2014.
