Ajim

Ajim is a town on the south-west side of the island of Jerba. This island is full of tourist resorts (and associated shops that service the tourists). However, I skipped all that and drove several kilometres up a sandy unsealed road to see these two buildings – Obi-Wan Kenobi’s house and the entrance to Mos Eisley.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s house

This small building served as the exterior of Obi-Wan’s home in the original Star Wars, Episode 4: A New Hope. The shot had Luke’s landspeeder parked outside in the foreground.

This building only appeared for a second in the original movie. The scene was replaced by a computer generated image in the newer release of Episode 4.

The building is right by the sea.

Views of the seaside – not the sort of thing you would expect to see on the desert planet of Tatooine.

We drive several kilometres further up the coast to a set of buildings.

Mos Eisley

Mos Eisley

This set of buildings, which appeared in Star Wars, Episode 4, as the entrance into Mos Eisley. In the movie, Like’s landspeeder zooms up the middle.

Like Obi-Wan’s house, this building also appeared in the original movie for just a second, and was replaced in the newer release.
